After nearly three years on the Latin American distribution team at M&G Investments, veteran executive Martín Herbon is setting off in a new direction. The executive was recruited by Latam Financial Services, a firm that distributes the UK asset manager’s vehicles—among others—in the region.
The company informed Funds Society of the addition, highlighting that Herbon is “one of the top mutual fund distribution executives” in Latin America. His hiring, they explain, comes as the distribution firm expands its business in the region.
Herbon has more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry. He currently serves as Head of Global Financial Institutions at M&G Investments in London, forming part of the senior leadership team for the distribution business across Latin America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.
Previously, he held the same role at Natixis Investment Managers, a firm where between 2014 and 2021 he was Country Head for the Southern Cone, building an extensive network of relationships with private banks, family offices, independent advisors, pension funds, and sovereign institutions in the region.
Prior to that, he held leadership positions in portfolio management, investment strategy, and high-net-worth client advisory at RBC Wealth Management, Merrill Lynch, and Union Capital Group.
Latam Financial Services represents the asset managers M&G Investments, Nuveen, and Virtus Investment Partners, with a focus on the US Offshore and Latin American markets. Its strategy is developed from two hubs: its Miami office and its Montevideo office.
