Global dividends started 2026 at record levels, reaching an all-time high of 419 billion dollars in the first quarter, up 8.2%, driven by special dividends and foreign exchange effects

Mining, financials, and technology led dividend growth, while pharmaceuticals, banks, and energy—the sectors that pay the most dividends—grew below the global average

Spain outperformed the global average in dividend growth, with underlying growth of 13.7% in the first quarter and total distributions of 4.7 billion dollars, according to Capital Group
