Comenz\u00f3 su trayectoria profesional en 1992 como gestor de carteras de renta variable internacional en UBS Brinson en Basilea, donde gestion\u00f3 fondos especializados en pa\u00edses concretos y fondos de preservaci\u00f3n del capital. En 1997 se uni\u00f3 a Pictet Asset Management en Ginebra como gestor senior de renta variable internacional. Desempe\u00f1o esa misma funci\u00f3n en Londres entre 1999 y 2001.
