De nacionalidad mexicana, Werner ha tenido una distinguida trayectoria en el sector p\u00fablico y privado, as\u00ed como en el mundo acad\u00e9mico. Fue subsecretario de Hacienda y Cr\u00e9dito P\u00fablico de M\u00e9xico entre diciembre de 2006 y agosto de 2010, profesor de Econom\u00eda en el Instituto de Empresa de Madrid, Espa\u00f1a (de agosto de 2010 a julio de 2011) y titular de banca corporativa y de inversi\u00f3n de BBVA-Bancomer (de agosto de 2011 a fines de 2012). Asimismo, se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como Director de Estudios Econ\u00f3micos en el Banco de M\u00e9xico y docente de ITAM. Tiene a su nombre una multitud de obras. Werner fue designado Joven L\u00edder Mundial por el Foro Econ\u00f3mico Mundial en 2007.
